MARINE VHF & 27MHZ FREQUENCIES The Marine frequencies are rather quiet in general here in Hobart, you do however get some activity during the day, when there are yacht races on the Derwent river they will normally use a couple of frequencies, also check out the Sailing Club's own frequencies available on the main page.
Coast Radio Hobart is on 460.225 (uplink), and the following freqs are commonly used: Ch.8, Ch.12, Ch.16, Ch.73.
Please note: 27Mhz Marine frequencies are not used any more in Australia, you will need to install a VHF Marine receiver, costing about $90 for communications on a boat. Never rely on a mobile phone off-shore, also any boats in the area who hear your distress call on channel 16 may be able to come and rescue you!
